Eczema Trial Week One

Eczema Trial Week One

It has now been one week since we started the eczema trial in the Bream Bay community, and I am incredibly impressed by the dedication of our participants in logging their progress daily. The progress we've seen so far is truly remarkable.

On the trial's starting day, we observed a wide range of eczema types among participants, as well as participant ages (from three to their sixties). This included individuals with large red patches, red circles, dry and flaky skin, and even open wounds. We also have a few participants with other skin frustrations like large discoloured red plaques and psoriasis, who are open to trying our Mānuka extract, having exhausted other options. I was particularly pleased to see participants with hand conditions similar to what I've experienced, which will allow us to compare results and see if our Mānuka extract is as effective as we believe it is.

The initial days of the trial were challenging for some participants, as we noticed they had an increase in redness. However, for most the itchiness seemed to decrease. We adjusted the application frequency, and thanks to their devotion and resilience, we saw an overall drastic improvement by the fifth day. Redness has been reduced by over 80%, and the itchiness scale is at its lowest point. This reinforces the idea that "it gets worse before it gets better." It does remind me of a medically prescribed acne treatment I used when I was a teenager, in the first 5-6 days my skin had more acne than ever, before it cleared up for good.

The trial will continue for three more weeks, and we are consistently reviewing their feedback. While participants still have visible eczema, it appears the product continues to make their "everyday living easier".

We will continue to post weekly updates on the trial, and I want to express my gratitude once more to all the participants for their commitment.
